Bio
Hi, I’m Tracey Chaykin, an award-winning Coloured Pencil artist from Napa California. Born and raised in the boroughs of New York City, I found I possessed a knack for creativeness from an early age. Nature, both Flora and Fauna, were the subject matter of choice for my artistic exploits. But as for many folks, school, marriage and a career in Accounting took me in a different direction up until recently. For as long as I can recall, I’ve always felt the need to brighten my world with art. From small to large, I wanted to create something new!

Every day brings new ways to work with the coloured pencil medium. Some days it’s Coloured Pencil on its own, sometimes combined with other mediums, either wet or dry. So many ideas, not enough time! I have found myself drawn to Hyper-realistic artwork. Possibly because I have always been a detail-oriented person. At the same time, for the purpose of preservation and conservation for wildlife, Hyper-realism is ideal. This style suits my desire to preserve snapshots of Nature as they are. Allowing viewers to appreciate and see for generations. Providing an opportunity for those unable to go and see wildlife in their natural habitats, a unique picture with my own touches that allow someone to look and imagine as if they were there. I strive to provide that level of realism.

My life and artistic goals are intertwined. Never stop learning! Expand my knowledge base so that I can continue to preserve and share the awe of Nature’s beauty for all to appreciate while ever expanding on the possibilities of what can be achieved with coloured pencil!
