My name is Neha Subramaniam. I am a self-taught full-time artist, born and brought up in Mumbai (India) and I am currently staying in Dubai (UAE). Drawing & painting has always been my hobby and passion since childhood, so I took a degree in Interior Designing and worked in this field for several years. After my son's birth I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom to take care of him and hence I quit my job and pursued my passion by teaching art to kids and ladies. I taught for almost 12 years teaching all types of medium including colored pencils. Its only 2 years now that I am doing a lot of work in this medium, exploring it and also learning a lot. I love to do realistic work with colored pencils and my subjects vary from nature to even day to day objects and even food. Initially I experimented with lots of papers, but my current favourite papers are hot pressed watercolor papers like Arches and Fabriano Artistico. Currently my favourite technique is to put a base of watercolors and then go over with it with colored pencils as besides colored pencils I work a lot with watercolors too. so, I thought to put good use of best of both the worlds. My favourite colored pencils are Faber Castell Polychromos and Caran D'ache Luminance and Prismacolor. Going forward I want to exhibit my work in art galleries all over the world and also pursue my teaching to be a student in life always.
